Gigi Hadid manages her time while also co-parenting her daughter Khai. She spoke to NET-A-PORTER about her role as creative director for her brand, Guest in Residence, as well as how she balances her career and parenting her 3-year-old daughter with her ex-Zayn Malik.
Hadid emphasized the importance of being intentional in both parenting and work. She stated that she works when Khai is with her father, taking advantage of the opportunity to fulfill professional obligations. She recognized it and made certain that she balanced multiple tasks to make it work.

Gigi shared her perspective, saying, “As a parent, you need to be deliberate because now, I have only half the time. I work when my daughter is with her dad, and that’s when I have the opportunity.”
She went on to mention, “On those days, I’ll cram in as many tasks as possible. Sometimes, I may seem a bit crazy, but if it’s something meaningful to me, I make it happen.”
Furthermore, Gigi opened up about rediscovering old hobbies while spending time with Khai. She humorously recounted a flight where she attempted crocheting a unicorn for Khai, describing it as a “blob with a horn and eyes.”
Interestingly, Khai has also played a role in Gigi’s work, serving as a “fit model” for Guest in Residence’s upcoming children’s collection. Gigi revealed that Khai and her best friend often come to the office for fittings, and occasionally, they take breaks for fun activities, like visiting the donut store. Gigi remarked, “Khai and her best friend are our fit models. They come into the office, Khai tries on one dress, and then she’s like, ‘Shall we go to the donut store?'”
Despite her divorce from Zayn in October 2021 and the alleged feud with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda, the couple is committed to co-parenting Khai. They have settled into their new roles as parents and have made a firm commitment to raising their daughter together.
Zayn previously stated that Khai restored joy and color to his life and stressed the importance of being a positive role model for her. In July, he told Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, “I feel like we get to a point in adult life where everything is kind of vague, grey, and boring, and she’s brought that color back for me.”
