A well known television actress has died at the age of 70
“The actress had been facing significant health challenges recently, with reports of a severe fall earlier this year.
In an April Facebook post, De Rousse honestly described her declining condition, writing, ‘Who thought a fall in my doctor’s office would lead to my death? It caused my hiatal hernia to migrate to a risky location. I can’t eat, I can’t breathe, and I’m just miserable. Palliative care is on its way, and we wait to enter hospice and ultimately die. Thank you for being such wonderful friends. ‘I love you.’
“ Hailing from Doniphan, Missouri, DeRousse embarked on her on-screen acting journey in the 1980s, making her debut in the film ‘Under the Rainbow.’ She went on to take on supporting roles in television series like ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘St. Elsewhere.’
During a 2009 interview with TrueBloodNet.com, DeRousse shared, ‘When I went to college, I believed that I was going to teach special ed, I’d really intended to do that but I walked past the theater department one day and walked in and that was it! I thought, “Oh no, this is home. This is where I’m supposed to be.”’
While her career experienced a lull in the 1990s, she made a return to the screen in the 2000s, notably portraying Kathleen in the 2003 dramedy ‘Tiptoes,’ alongside Gary Oldman and Kate Beckinsale.
Then, in 2009, she secured her most memorable role, portraying Dr. Patricia Ludwig in Alan Ball‘s ‘True Blood.’ Her first appearance was in Season 2, in the episode ‘Scratches,’ and she later reprised her role in the drama’s fourth and seventh seasons.”
