Movie Review

Sequel films are a craze in Hindi cinema, which is not only a good sign for the film industry, but also proof that the magic of the big screen affects the audience in its own unique way. Both of the films that were released this Friday were sequels. ‘OMG 2’, starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam, though a completely different story from the film ‘OMG’ that was released 11 years ago, ‘Gadar 2’ takes forward the same story that the audience saw 22 years ago in the film ‘Gadar’. I’d seen Another issue with sequel films is the audience’s expectations.

Director Anil Sharma’s film ‘Gadar’ made box office history, and this time both Zee Studios, the company producing it, and Anil Sharma, who directed it, are hoping to repeat it.

Story of 1971

The film ‘Gadar’ told the story of partition. Sakina, a Muslim girl separated from her family during the Partition riots, is about to be attacked by the attackers when Tara Singh, a truck driver, arrives and saves her. He satisfies her desire and marries her. Both have a wonderful son named Jeete. Tara Singh’s struggle to bring his wife back from Pakistan demonstrates the strength of his love. This time, the action takes place just before the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Sakina’s father, Ashraf Ali, was hanged for assisting Tara Singh.

Jeete’s thoughts are less focused on studies and more on drama and drama. Tara Singh works as a logistics supply to soldiers, and one day he is called upon to assist the army in delivering ammunition during a Pakistani attack on Ram Tekdi. The situation worsens when it is revealed that Tara Singh has been kidnapped by the Pakistani army. Jeete travels to Pakistan disguised in search of him. Things take a turn for the worse when Tara Singh returns home and Jeete is apprehended by the Pakistani army with the assistance of the ISI.

The Love Story Continues…

Both the films ‘Gadar’ and ‘Gadar 2’ share the same chromosome. Sakina had previously visited India from Pakistan. The challenge this time is to bring a smile. It is the smile that helps Pakistan win, and Gadar’s love for it means that their love story continues. Anil Sharma has stated that this love story will be expanded upon in ‘Gadar 2’. Jeete has now joined the army, so the next time this love story is told, it will almost certainly revolve around the Kargil war.

Under the pressure of the sequel, Shaktimaan, who wrote the original film’s story, has also kept the story of ‘Gadar 2’ focused on patriotism, anti-Pakistan, Hindu-Muslim brotherhood, and the mutual love of two generations. The story, like ‘OMG 2’, revolves around the love of father and son, and as Jeetey says in the film, ‘Whoever is under the shadow of his father, what is the need to worry about it!’ Come

Reviving 22 Years old Feelings

Apart from the story, Anil Sharma has kept the entire new chola of two songs from the previous film ‘Gadar’ as a draw for the audience. Ud Ja Kale Kaga is a timeless piece of music. However, Tara Singh’s son Utkarsh Sharma’s dance skills were enhanced by the song ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke,’ which was transformed into father-son affection. Anil Sharma previously made ‘Genius’ to introduce his son Utkarsh to the film industry, but after seeing ‘Gadar 2’, it appears that Anil Sharma should have made this film first.

Utkarsh’s beard may be out of place here, but he has worked side by side with Sunny Deol. In the romantic scenes, his innocence comes in handy, while in the climax scenes, he manages to deliver the film’s dialogue, ‘Hindustan Zindabad Tha, Hindustan Zindabad Hai, and Hindustan Zindabad Rahega!’ So there is applause in the theater for both this dialogue and for Utkarsh Sharma. Simrat Kaur, a newcomer, co-stars with Utkarsh and does a good job for her first film.

The Streets of Lahore And The Same Hand Pump

In the climax, a sword-wielding crowd surrounds Tara Singh in the streets of Lahore, and a green-colored hand pump is seen in front of him. The handpump uprooting scene in the film ‘Gadar’ has such an impact that what follows becomes a glimpse of Anil Sharma’s direction. After directing ‘Gadar,’ Anil Sharma went on to direct six more films. Amitabh Bachchan directed Priyanka Chopra.

People preferred ‘Apne,’ in which the Deol family appeared together in front of the camera. The way Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol complement each other again in ‘Gadar 2’ is the film’s life. Sunny Deol’s hammer scene honors his fans who came out to see the film.

Manish Wadhwa’s Hard Work Also Paid off

Amrish Puri and Vivek Shouk, two famous actors from the film ‘Gadar,’ died in the last 22 years. The film is also a tribute to both of their performances. The challenge was greater in front of Manish Wadhwa, who took over as the villain of the film in place of Amrish Puri this time. Manish performed admirably in the role of General Hamid Iqbal, who smokes cigars, wears dangerous expressions on his face, and is ready to kill at any moment.

Typically, Manish Wadhwa’s villains have been unable to go beyond Ashraf Ali in the face of Sunny Deol’s fierce form, but if he gets good characters, he can write a new story of villainy in Hindi cinema from here.

Mithun Composed Juicy Music

Mithun, the nephew of Laxmikant Pyarelal Wale Pyarelal Sharma, has not only done a good job of giving old songs a new look, but he has also demonstrated his talent in the songs ‘Dil Jhoom’ and ‘Khairiyat’ written by Saeed Qadri. The competition for the film ‘Gadar 2’ at the box office is fierce. The film’s technical team, particularly its cinematography and editing, is from the ‘Gadar’ era. Tinnu Verma has also failed to demonstrate any special innovation in the action sequences.

The film must bear the weight of the ‘Gadar’ sequel as well as compete with the contemporary story of ‘OMG 2’, which was released concurrently. One can only hope that, similar to how ‘Gadar’ and ‘Lagaan’ were released on the same day and became superhit films, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’ will repeat history.

Some Drawbacks

The film is a little long. The length may irritate the audience, who may be lacking in patience these days. The first half is a little chilly, but it warms up in the second. Except for Sunny Deol, the styling of the other characters appears dated.
